Frequent questions
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NATURAL AND ORGANIC?
A natural product is a composition of only natural unprocessed ingredients that can be obtained from any type of agriculture, extracted using non-polluting methods and with minimal environmental impact. They are also biodegradable in the pack and do not include petroleum derivatives like vaseline, paraffin, silicones and other substances that are not related to the skin.
In a certified organic product, a large percentage of natural ingredients come from organic farming. In biocosmetics, everything happens considering the entire agricultural ecosystem, exploiting the natural fertility of the soil, cultivated without chemical fertilizers, promoting biodiversity: choosing a biological cosmetic means safeguarding the environment, people and animals.
A certified organic product is also without dyes or synthetic perfumes, without PEG or PPG, without parabens, without petrochemical derivatives, and is non-GMO. It must also pay attention to the packaging, choosing a reduced packaging, which must not be polluting, on the contrary, must be recyclable.

WHAT ARE THE BIOLOGICAL COSMETICS EXACTLY?
They are cosmetics that meet the specifications concerning the quantity of natural ingredients or of natural origin and the share of certified organic ingredients.
Moreover, this kind of products is devoid of perfumes and synthetic colors, the ingredients used are quality products without GMOs or chemicals, do not contain extracts from animals unless their removal is not harmful to the ecological balance (such as honey , royal jelly, propolis, wax), promote sustainable development and fair trade and the processes of their production are environmentally friendly.
Organic cosmetics must comply with the following percentages:
– 95% minimum of natural ingredients and natural origin
– 20% minimum of natural ingredients from organic farming
– 2% maximum of additives allowed to make the cosmetic product stable, functional and pleasant (eg preservatives, stabilizers, active ingredients).
The percentage of natural ingredients from certified organic farming also includes the percentage of water present in the extract provided it comes from an admitted physical process (eg distillation, hydration water, cold extraction by means of pressurized water, etc.)

WHAT IS THE ADDED VALUE OF BIOLOGICAL AGRICULTURE?
Organic farming is a system of agricultural production based on respect for life, biodiversity and natural cycles.
It does not use synthetic chemicals like pesticides, insecticides, fungicides or fertilizers

CERTIFIED BIOLOGICAL PRODUCTS ARE MORE CONSTANT OF TRADITIONAL COSMETICS?
In our opinion the cost of organic is in line with traditional perfumery products, the difference lies in what is inside. The cost of natural ingredients, even more if organic, is higher than the synthetic counterparts (which sometimes have very low costs) as they derive from a process of cultivation, harvesting and processing much more demanding, certified organic raw materials are more expensive because production yields are smaller, 100% natural perfumes are four times more expensive than synthetic perfumes.
It must also be considered that formulating effective cosmetics with natural ingredients is far from easy and that high quality raw materials and research must be used to ensure the durability of cosmetics with poor preservatives (do not use them to prevent the onset of allergies) of appropriate formulation.
On the other hand, however, natural and organic products are very concentrated, in applications it is sufficient to use very little quantity of product, so they have an excellent yield and durability.

WHY USE A ORGANIC OR NATURAL COSMETIC?
Several scientific studies have shown that human skin absorbs up to 60% of the substances it comes into contact with.
On average, a woman absorbs from the daily use of cosmetics and detergents, up to 2 kg of chemical agents every year.
In our opinion it is important to use products that do not contain harmful substances (for us and the environment) or at least useless, able only to create a film on the skin, preventing it from breathing properly and causing all the unbalances of the case (impurities, imperfections , redness, sensitivity, etc.).

WHAT IS THE INCI? HOW TO READ?
A conscious purchase (in cosmetics but also in general) presupposes that you do not just look at the packaging, the quantity of product and the price, but that you stop to read the list of ingredients, which is the most important data.
The INCI, which stands for International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients, is the list of cosmetic ingredients expressed according to a standard nomenclature.
The INCI nomenclature provides that the terms in Latin refer to the ingredients derived from plants that have not undergone processes, while the terms in English refer to substances that have undergone chemical intervention.
When faced with a label, this distinction can help us understand intuitively whether it is a natural or chemical component.
The dyes are always indicated at the bottom, with the initials C.I., which stands for color index, followed by an identification number.
The list of ingredients is organized in descending order: in the first place we find the ingredient contained in a higher percentage and gradually following the others, up to that contained in a lower percentage.
It is possible to check the quality of the ingredients on the portal www.biodonimi.it
